JAKE CLARK

Jake Clark was born in 1966 in London. He studied painting at Brighton and the Royal College of Art, completing his MA in 1993. Clark’s paintings are based on collages and models made from detritus found in his studio. Photographs of these structures then become the reference material for the paintings. His paintings also depict suburban European seaside architecture: its houses, people and details. The scale is often meant to be ambiguous by suggesting architecture or toys, emphasised by the lighting aiming to create an eerie quality. He lives and works in London.
