When Herrick Gallery launched in 2012, Alice Herrick, the gallery’s founder and director, invited over a hundred of her artist friends to make a piece of work with a plate for the inaugural show PLATE. One of the eighty artists who responded was Gavin Turk with a work entitledSpoerri, which features a pair of blown brown hen eggs affixed to a white paper plate. To celebrate the opening of Gavin’s solo exhibition, ‘Who What When Where How and Why’ at Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery, we are delighted to represent Spoerri at Herrick GalleryThe piece, signed and dated by the artist, and now displayed within a Perspex box on a plinth, can be seen by appointment in the gallery’s private viewing room.
