ABBRACCIAMOCI!: Maria Teresa Gavazzi, Herrick Gallery Shoreditch
14 February 2014
An interactive installation, with a soundscape especially designed by Riccardo Spina, at Herrick Gallery.
Visitors were each given a pair of earplugs and invited to embrace one of the fourteen large white balloons suspended in the gallery. The soundscape was experienced reverberating through their bodies, the air in the balloons vibrating like the sound box of a musical instrument. A beating heart, the roaring of the sea, black birds singing, explosions of laughter, excerpts of music and broken words - conjuring a totally immersive atmosphere, muffled and pulsing deep inside the sounding board of each person in the room.
